A contemporary dance opera work
A three act, sixty minute work in partnership with Newham Music
​​Exile addresses the issue of forced migration and violence against women and girls drawing on the testimonies of those who have fled conflict zones and oppression.
​
A lone woman moves towards a heavily fortified high wall. We hear the sound of aircraft landing. She is holding her small child. More and more women arrive. She is caught up in the swell of the crowd. Waves of women break on the wall and are then forced back. The child slowly drifts away alone on the sea of bodies.
Who decides who is taken? What happens to those who are left behind?
